What is EarthBound.Net?

EarthBound.Net is basically one big huge fan site. It isn't affiliated or incorporated with any network or company yet, so we don't have to use ads, which is why it might not look like the other big gaming sites. Trust us, we work just as hard as the other sites, usually harder :)

What is EB.Net?

EB.Net means EarthBound.Net. You will see people refer to this site as EB.Net because it is faster to type.

How is EarthBound.Net paid for?

EarthBound.Net is paid for by some members, and anyone who is generous enough to make a small contribution to our efforts. Keep in mind that no one is FORCED to pay - donating is totally voluntary. We do, however, offer several incentives for anyone who makes a contribution. For more information, please read this text file.

How can I become a staff member?

There is no simple answer to this. Many times you just have to be in the right place at the right time. If you hang around the other staff members for a while, you might get lucky. Be aware that only reidman may give out staff positions.

How can I get a true POP account on EarthBound.Net?

If you send in a $3 donation (more is always accepted :) EarthBound.Net will be glad to give you a POP account. Your POP account will work for 4 months for every donation you make. If you make a larger donation, like $9 or $18, your POP account will work for a whole year or two. It is not required that you continue to send in donations afterwards, but of course you won't get to keep your POP account. How can I get web space on EarthBound.Net?

The only way to guarantee yourself some webspace on EarthBound.Net is to become a regular contributor. If you contribute $3, you are guaranteed a POP account for 4 months. If you become a regular donor and give $1-3 every month or two months, you have a good chance of being given webspace. Its not guaranteed, however. For more info, read this text file.

What programs were used to create EB.Net's HTML?

Tomato, our resident HTML genius, did most (if not all) of the work by hand. HTML Editors are a cursed thing when it comes to complex tables, stylesheets, server side includes, and CGI.

What programs were used to create EB.Net's graphics?

reidman has used a variety of programs to create the graphics for EarthBound.Net, but has done nearly everything in Adobe Photoshop 5.

I want to submit a file or article. Who do I send it to?

It depends. If you have an article, send it to articles@earthbound.net. For pretty much everything else, use our file upload form to send files. DO NOT mail files to any of the site administrators, lest ye wish to be boiled in thine owneth juices.

I would like to use some of your files. Am I allowed to do this?

Depends on what files you want. Game images and clay model images are fine. Using our sound effects is okay too. But don't use the MIDIs, comics, or fan art found on our site. We've had to go out of our way to get permission just to post these files. Stealing these files from our site is not the smartest thing to do, and is very disrespectful to the original creators. If you really want to use those files, then mail us at webmaster@earthbound.net, and we'll see what we can do. We would also appreciate it if you linked to our site if you use our files.

Why don't you distribute SPCs, ROMs, or emulators?

Because distributing ROMs is illegal, and because the legality of emulators is very unclear. Nintendo is not happy with anything emulation-related, so EarthBound.Net will not distribute any such material.

Where can I buy the EB soundtrack CDs?

You can find information on these CDs and a lot of other EarthBound/Mother merchandise in our merchandise section.

Again, just check our merchandise section. Ordering information and even prices are listed when possible.

What is Mother?

Mother is the Japanese prequel to our EarthBound SNES. The English equivalent of Mother is referred to as EarthBound Zero. Mother 2 is the Japanese version of EarthBound, and Mother 3 is the Japanese version of EarthBound 64.

I have a gameplay question. Can you help?

We generally get a huge pile of e-mail everyday, and many times we can't reply to them all. We might answer your question, but then again we might not have time to send a reply. That is why it is in your best interest to ask your question on our message board. We have quite a few people who live on that message board, so your question will not only get answered, but answered quickly (usually within minutes).
